Lilliputian Living Volume 6, 2022

Every year, I challenge myself to spend all of October creating a daily series of inked sketches. Lilliputian Living gives me a chance to explore the Lilliputian world and do a little worldbuilding. Every year has a different theme, and this year's was Pets.

Inked sketch of Day 2- Leopard frogs and tadpoles- While many Lilliputians are happy to eat non-poisonous amphibians, quite a few swamp and pond-dwelling Lilliputians also keep them as pets.

Inked sketch of Day 3- Black Bellied Whistling Duck- Lilliputian kids moving some duck eggs.  Mama duck looks pretty worried, but no cracks yet!  Maybe she was raised by these kiddos' parents and sees them as her own?

Inked sketch of Day 9-Lovebird- Lovebirds and other parrots are larger pets for Lilliputians.  Intelligent and engaging companions that can be trained to do many tasks including serving as a looking, delivering messages, and helping with household chores.

Inked sketch of Day 10-Baby Bats-  Baby bats are so cute.  When orphaned baby bats are rescued, they're wrapped in little blankets meant to mimic mama bat's wings.

Inked sketch of Day 11-Rat- A rat and her Lilliputians have made a fort out of fabric.  Friendly, intelligent, and loving, rats make wonderful pets and companions to Lilliputians.

Inked Sketch of Day 12-A Lilliputian gardener recycling food scraps and feeding his earthworms.  When you're less than 1' tall, you have to make friends close to the earth.  These helpful creatures turn over the soil, making it more fertile for farmers.

Inked Sketch of Day 14-Guinea Pig- The class pet!  Not sure many piggies would tolerate this, but this piggie is used to the attention.  Can you imagine a class pet as big as you are?

Inked sketch of Day 15-Goldfish- Every year, I sneak in a few family and friends.  I asked my spouse what animal he'd have as a pet if he were a Lilliputian, and he said he wanted a fish, so here's a Lilliputian and his pet goldfish.

Inked sketch of Day 18-Harvest Mouse-Mice and rats can and do eat flowers and it's adorable. Here's a lil buddy proudly helping his Lilliputians carry back a harvest of flowers, since humans and Lilliputians can and do eat flowers too!

Inked sketch of Day 19-Roof Rat- Every year, I do a few cameos, and here's mine, with my pet roof rat Basil.  My own pet rat is such a sweetheart, I imagine having a dog-sized pet rat would be amazing.

Inked sketch of Day 23- An opossum getting some tummy scritches from her Lilliputian friend.  Resistant to rabies and an eater of ticks, opossums may look fierce, but provide a valuable service to Lilliputians and humans alike.

Inked sketch of Day 26-Carpenter Bee-Two Lilliputians in their garden, greeting a flying friend.  Although carpenter bees don't produce honey, they're still helpful pollinators and welcome in the garden.

Inked sketch of Day 30-Raccoon-Two little Lilliputians feeding a pet raccoon.  I feel like raccoons would make excellent companions to Messengers, Merchants, and probably Musicians.  All the traveling trades that could benefit from an extra set of hands.
